Michael Pillsbury: China Will Try To Wait Out Trump On Trade War, Hoping For A Democrat In 2020
Hudson Institute Senior Fellow Michael Pillsbury joins Maria Bartiromo on FBN’s “Mornings With Maria” to discuss the latest on the protests in Hong Kong and U.S. trade tensions with China.
We are doing very well in our negotiations with China. While I am sure they would love to be dealing with a new administration so they could continue their practice of “ripoff USA”($600 B/year),16 months PLUS is a long time to be hemorrhaging jobs and companies on a long-shot….

MARIA BARTIROMO: Are they going to come to the U.S. for another meeting with President Trump? Because right now we have no details on any meeting between Xi Jinping and President Trump in September.
MICHAEL PILLSBURY: Well if you read the president’s tweets from yesterday, he’s saying that they are probably going to try to wait him out, 16 months, and hope for a Democrat to win. That’s what the Chinese have told me. The president has said I am wrong and that is just wishful thinking on the part of the Chinese, but their analysts seem to believe a Democrat is going to win so they’ll get a better deal.
